IT Services for Higher Education & Non-profit Organizations
Information Technology Associates' Services
Information Technology Associates brings decades of real-world experience to consulting assignments. For each consulting job we assemble an ad hoc team with the precise skills and experiences needed by the client. The team is selected from among the "best and brightest" full-time information technology professionals in the same sector as the client. We can provide the following services tailored to fit your organizations specific needs:
Assessment
Information technology assessment is one of our core competencies. We can provide evaluations and assessments of how the various components of an institutions information technology architecture compare to other institutions, both regionally and nationally. One recent engagement included an assessment of a state systems telecommunications and middleware infrastructure and the development of long-range strategic plan based upon national technology trends. Another included a technical assessment of a new statewide dark fiber network and recommendations for improving performance and reducing costs.
Strategic Planning
Most strategic planning models have been developed in the private sector and cannot be directly transferred to the public sector because the underlying assumptions are not the same. Information Technology Associates has developed a strategic planning model that draws upon elements of private sector models and has modified them to meet the requirements of the higher education environment. This model has proved to be a very effective tool for institutions in responding to multi-dimensional requests from shareholders. IT Management
We can provide management assistance on Information Technology issues ranging from staffing and organizational design to financial planning and infrastructure. Previous engagements have included working with a research university on an organizational design to support research computing and assisting a non-profit organization design a job description for a new CIO.
Grant and Technical Writing
With over $8 million dollars in funded grants as well as program officer experience at the NSF, we can provide assistance in the preparation of grant applications to public and private funding agencies. For example, one recent engagement for a national research organization involved preparing a follow-on grant to a federal research agency. As a regular columnist for a higher education technology magazine, we also know how to meet a deadline.
Presentations, Workshops, and Speaking Engagements
We can provide experienced speakers on topics ranging from technology and technology futures to an insiders view of the creation of the Internet with delivery styles appropriate to the occasion. Previous engagements have ranged from multi-day workshops on topics such as Campus Networking and Information Technology Security to after dinner presentations on topics such as Technology Futures and the Origins of the Internet.
